{mosimage}The Gulf War began on January 16th 1991 and lasted until February 28th 1991; it was between Iraq and Kuwait. The Gulf War had three fundamental reasons; Iraq’s livelihood of Kuwait, Political game and authorizations against Iraq, and Iraq’s war against allies. This war was not only fought in the field, but also in front of the media.

The media has been used repetitively during war to obtain acceptance, assistance. That was the same reasoning with this war. Although, Kuwait’s way of dealing with the war and media effort was criticized a lot since the outbreak of the war, they won the media side of the war. This war lasted for only 42 days, but during this time 60,000 troops we lost. During the first few weeks, Kuwait and its allies attacked the infrastructure and strategic military targets in Iraq. While Kuwait was up for the battle they were not as advanced as Iraq was. The countries that were involved were; The United States, France, Britain, Syria, and Saudi Arabia. Although some of the Allies were helping physically in the fight Saudi Arabia was assisting in a more monetary capacity, due to fears of terrorist attacks from Iraq.

The primary reason fin Iraq defeating Kuwait was its natural beautiful rivers and lands, which included Tigris and Euphrates. There was also the over riding tension regarding the oil resources bordering on both Iraq and Kuwait. Iraq claimed that Kuwait was draining resources that were on the side of the Iraq border. Accordingly Iraq was enraged at Kuwait for regularly reducing the oil prices which affected the economy of Iraq. By lowering the prices Iraq felt that Kuwait had caused a loss in sales and wanted Kuwait to compensate them for this loss. As a result of the war Saddam Hussein’s reign had almost collapsed. The area from Iraq to the Persian Gulf became an area of disaster. This was also the beginnings of what would become turmoil within Iraq itself. With its own people fighting amongst themselves the humanitarian and economic situations continually worsening Iraq become divided and the reign of Saddam Hussein played a pivotal role.
