J Russell Coffey, the oldest surviving World War 1 verteran died today at 109 years of age, this leaves two remaining American verterans, he died in a nursing home in Baltimore.

The two remaining soldiers are below:-

  1. Frank Buckles, 106, of Charles Town, West Virginia
  2. Harry Richard Landis, 108, of Sun City Center, Florida.

Mr Coffey was only in basic training when World War 1 was coming to an end, so he was never involved in any action.
