Medvedev: Ready to cancel Kaliningrad missile plans if President-elect Obama scraps missile defense system in Central Europe.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said Thursday that his country could withdraw its missiles deployment near the border of Poland if United States President Barack Obama cancels the planned missile defense system in Central Europe.
According to Medvedev, Moscow had no choice but to react to the plans of the U.S to establish missile and radar systems near the Russian border.

Olmert: “We must confront Iran’s malevolent diligence and thwart it with greater force.”
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert of Israel emphasized on Sunday that greater pressure should be done to prevent Iran from a successful nuclear programme.
In a speech in Jerusalem, Olmert said: “We must increase our measures to prevent Iran from achieving its devious goals…Iran cannot become nuclear…Israel cannot afford it.”
“We must unite our forces as part of the international community, led by the United States of America. We must confront Iran’s malevolent diligence and thwart it with greater force,” Olmert added.

There are already more than 100 nations who signed a treaty banning the use of cluster mines. Britain, after supporting the United States for many years on its stand on the use of these weapons, has also jumped ship.
The Bush administration, however, remains adamant on the use of these deadly bombs.
